Discussions concentrated on defence, security, and strategic technology collaboration, particularly the TRUST project, during Sunday’s meeting between US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi.
The India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership was reiterated as a top priority during the meeting, and the two sides also discussed important regional and global events, according to the MEA.
Before meeting with Rubio, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, including energy, defence, commerce, critical minerals, AI, nuclear cooperation, counter-terrorism, and vital minerals. Additionally, Jaishankar expressed his eagerness to attend Tuesday’s Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with his American, Australian, and Japanese counterparts.
The visit by Rubio followed a meeting between the two presidents on Saturday, during which they spoke about the current situation in the Middle East, energy security, vital supply chains, and new technology. Rubio extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi to visit the White House, highlighting the possibility of US energy supply to diversify India’s energy basket.
While restating India’s support for diplomatic and dialogue-based approaches to resolve regional disputes, Prime Minister Modi stated that India and the US will maintain their strong cooperation in the pursuit of world peace and prosperity.
