Daikin India Investment: Rs 2,800 Cr HVAC Surge

Daikin India Investment Fuels Rs 2,800 Crore Expansion Strategy

Japanese HVAC leader Daikin Industries has announced a major Daikin India investment of Rs 2,800 crore to scale up local operations. The company will direct approximately Rs 1,300 crore toward research and development, specifically targeting high-capacity air conditioners and industrial chillers engineered for data centres. This capital injection directly aligns with Daikin’s aggressive strategy to capture market share across residential, commercial, and enterprise infrastructure sectors.

Strategic Push for Domestic HVAC Manufacturing

During high-level trade discussions, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal urged Daikin President and COO Naofumi Takaneka to expand beyond component assembly and manufacture full compressors and critical parts directly within India. In response, Takaneka affirmed that the enhanced Daikin India investment will focus on developing cooling technologies customized specifically for local climate conditions.

Building Long-Term Industrial Capability and Innovation

Daikin continues to build on its long-term presence, which began with its Neemrana manufacturing facility setup in 2009. The company expanded its supply chain with a compressor joint venture in 2025 and operates a dedicated production unit under India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for white goods. To sustain this growth, Daikin plans to complete its state-of-the-art enterprise R&D and Innovation Centre by 2028.
