The first official visit to India by President U Min Aung Hlaing since taking office will be a five-day trip that begins on Saturday, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Starting in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, the visit would showcase the cultural and civilisational ties between the two nations, as extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On June 1, President U Min Aung Hlaing and Prime Minister Modi will have bilateral meetings during the visit. The agenda will center on improving India-Myanmar relations and bolstering cooperation in many industries.
Along with meeting with other prominent figures in the field, he will take part in a business summit in India. A senior delegation including ministers from the Myanmar cabinet, high-ranking government officials, and business executives will accompany the president.
He plans to visit Mumbai on June 2 for business meetings and site visits to strengthen investment and trade ties.
The Indian government’s Neighbourhood First, Act East, and MAHASAGAR policies all recognise Myanmar’s strategic importance, and the MEA hopes that the upcoming visit would lead to further cooperation in a variety of areas.
The recent high-level encounters between the two sides include President U Min Aung Hlaing’s visit and the April visit of MoS for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, who brought a message of felicitation from PM Modi.
By maintaining its regional outreach and connectivity structures and providing bilateral aid, India will continue to back Myanmar’s growth.
After standing down as commander-in-chief earlier in April, U Min Aung Hlaing, who has led the country since the military takeover in 2021, was elected president of Myanmar.
During last year’s SCO Summit in China, Prime Minister Modi met with the leadership of Myanmar to assess bilateral ties; this visit follows on the heels of ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
