Anthropic Overtakes OpenAI With $965 Billion Valuation After Massive $65 Billion Funding Round

Anthropic, an AI startup based in the US, has raised $65 billion in a Series H investment round, putting it ahead of OpenAI in the AI valuation race and increasing its post-money valuation to $965 billion.

Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, ICONIQ, and XN served as co-leaders with Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital at the helm of the round. In addition to Amazon’s $5 billion investment, the most recent round of funding included $15 billion in commitments from hyperscalers.

This month, the company’s yearlyized revenue run rate surpassed $47 billion, because to the increasing adoption of its flagship AI assistant, Claude, by enterprises around the world.

In order to keep up with the soaring demand for AI services, Anthropic announced that the money will go toward research into AI safety and interpretability, new computing infrastructure, product scaling, and strategic alliances.

“Claude is becoming more and more important to our expanding worldwide community of customers, and we strive relentlessly to enhance the usefulness, power, and adaptability of tools like Claude Code and Cowork,” stated Krishna Rao, Chief Financial Officer at Anthropic. Further, he said that the funding would allow Claude to expand his reach in international workplaces and assist the organization maintain its position as a leader in research.

Startups and major organisations alike are using Claude to streamline complicated procedures and increase productivity in their day-to-day operations.

Through a string of high-profile deals, Anthropic has considerably increased its computing capacity in the realm of infrastructure. Among these, there are arrangements with Google and Broadcom for access to next-generation TPUs, an agreement with Amazon for up to five gigawatts of extra capacity, and so on. Furthermore, the business has obtained GPU infrastructure via SpaceX’s Colossus 1 and Colossus 2 systems.

Anthropic has further strengthened its strategic alliances with Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix to meet the increasing demands for storage, processing power, and memory.
