An official report was released on Friday regarding the safe passage of the crude tanker Nissos Keros, which is flying the flag of the Marshall Islands. The ship is carrying around 270,000 metric tonnes of crude oil for India and is due to arrive in Visakhapatnam on June 3.
Authorities in India have confirmed that domestic refineries are running at full capacity with sufficient crude inventories, adding to the country’s efforts to reassure markets about its energy security and uninterrupted fuel supplies. This revelation comes as a surprise to some.
Fuel and fuel are in plenty, according to officials, while domestic LPG output has jumped to over 52,000 metric tonnes per day to meet increasing demand.
Oil marketing companies have maintained solid supply chain performance over the past four days, delivering around 1.80 crore LPG cylinders against 1.78 crore bookings. Additionally, the percentage of online LPG bookings has soared to almost 99 percent, and the percentage of deliveries that use Delivery Authentication Codes, which aim to reduce diversion and ensure transparency, has climbed to around 96 percent.
Amidst reports of crowding at petrol stations in several locations, the administration emphasised that there is no shortage of fuel and urged citizens not to panic buy, instead relying on official information.
Officials urged LPG users to book online and visit distributors less often, while promoting the use of PNG connections and electric or induction stoves whenever feasible.
Despite certain areas experiencing exceptionally high demand, all petrol stations around the nation are running as usual. There are sufficient supplies of petrol and diesel around the country, according to officials.
In addition, the central government has ordered the states to track gasoline usage by district, step up inspections along important transportation and industrial routes, and crack down hard on large consumers who divert or abuse retail fuel supply.
