Celebrating World Environment Day 2026 with the theme “Inspired by Nature,” NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) took part in the festivities today, June 5, 2026. Concerning the Environment. In which NLCIL’s dedication to environmental preservation finds powerful resonance.
In keeping with the aforementioned, NLCIL and the general public were engaged in environmental protection through the organization of a number of activities.
Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director/Planning & Projects & Director/Power (A/c), Shri B. Anbuchelvan, Executive Director, Corporate Environmental Cell, and other high-ranking NLCIL officials planted fruit-bearing trees at the NLCIL Airport premises as part of a mass tree planting drive to raise awareness about the significance of native tree species in ecological preservation and the fight against climate change. At MSTP, a tree-planting ceremony was held that brought together CEOs, unit heads, employees, and executive directors. The trees planted were native and fruit-bearing varieties. At the occasion, over fifty tree seedlings were planted. Distinguished guests including Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman of Mines and Shri Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia of P&P and Power (A/c) were present at a mass walkathon (climathon) to raise awareness about climate change and its causes, effects, and the impact that individuals can have through their own efforts. Many members of the general public and NLCIL employees took part. The event also saw the introduction of a decorative “Talking Bin” to further promote cleanliness and hygiene among NLCIL employees and the general public through an interactive experience.
Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director/Mines, and Shri Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director/P&P and Director/Power (A/c) also formally flagged off an LED vehicle showcasing NLCIL’s efforts to combat climate change and carbon abatement through sustainable mining practices. The vehicle’s purpose is to raise public awareness and encourage individuals to make an effort to preserve the environment.
