Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) to Bondada Engineering Limited for a 20 MW/120 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project following approval from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL).
In a regulatory filing dated October 17, 2026, GIPCL confirmed that Bondada Engineering, Hyderabad, accepted the LoI through email communication on the same day. The development follows GIPCL’s earlier disclosure dated August 11, 2026, regarding the award of the contract to Bondada Engineering for the proposed battery storage project.
Battery Energy Storage Project Covers Installation and Maintenance
The contract covers the design, engineering, supply and procurement of the BESS, along with civil and structural works, erection, testing and commissioning. It also includes operation and maintenance for a period of 10 years.
The system will have a rated capacity of 20 MW/120 MWh at the point of injection and will be located at GIPCL’s 132 kV substation.
The project is intended to add battery-based energy storage capacity to GIPCL’s power infrastructure. However, the latest regulatory filing does not specify a commissioning date or disclose additional financial details.
