IRCTC to Roll Out Upgraded Booking Portal with AI-Powered Features and Faster Ticket Booking

On July 15, the Indian train Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will unveil a redesigned website for purchasing train tickets, which will provide millions of customers with an improved, quicker, and easier experience. Ashwini Vaishnaw, minister of railways in the union, made the announcement and claimed that the new platform would make reservations easier and more convenient for customers.

With the new website, booking capacity will be much higher, allowing for almost 1.5 lakh ticket bookings per minute instead of the current 32,000. Also, at peak demand, the improved Passenger Reservation System (PRS) would handle more than 40 lakh enquiries per minute, which is ten times faster than the current capability of about 4 lakh enquiries per minute.

Among the most notable improvements is the inclusion of booking features that prioritise passengers. Customers may now choose their seats when they book their tickets, and a fare calendar lets them compare pricing for different dates of travel before they book, giving them greater control over their budget and allowing them to better plan their trips.

The revamped portal would offer Divyangjan, students, and patients centralised booking services through a single platform, support numerous Indian languages, and enhance accessibility. The goal of these enhancements is to streamline the reservation process and increase accessibility for all types of rail customers.

In addition to speeding up bookings, the improved website will have a more simplified layout free of annoying pop-ups, flashing ads, and CAPTCHA prompts. With these updates, passengers should have an easier, faster, and less irritating experience booking Tatkal tickets.

Users may now monitor the availability of seats in all classes—Sleeper, AC 3 Tier, AC 2 Tier, and more—on a single screen, eliminating the need to search for each category individually. This is a significant improvement. The improvement would make it easier for customers to compare different travel options and finalise their arrangements.

Millions of passengers will enjoy speedier bookings, better accessibility, and a more seamless experience when they reserve tickets on the redesigned IRCTC website, which is a big digital improvement for Indian Railways.
