REC Limited Signs MoU with CPRI to Enhance Quality Assurance for RDSS Projects

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) and REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, to enhance testing and quality assurance procedures for materials utilised under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). On Tuesday, officials from REC’s corporate office in Gurugram inked the deal.
Both Yogendra Singh, General Manager and Head of PMD Quality at REC, and M.G. Anandakumar, Joint Director of the BD and CBS Division at CPRI, signed the MoU. Senior officials from both organisations were present at the occasion, including Prince Dhawan, IAS, Executive Director (PMD) of the REC, Dr. Neha Adhikari, Joint Director of the CPRI, and others.

Independent third-party quality testing of materials supplied for RDSS projects will be undertaken jointly by REC and CPRI through this strategic relationship. Prior to deployment, the initiative’s goal is to guarantee that all components and equipment consistently fulfil the specified technical specifications and quality requirements.

In addition to sharing information and developing strong quality assurance standards, the alliance offers technical consulting, capacity-building programs, and more. The goal of these changes is to make distribution sector projects more accountable, better monitored, and use better implementation approaches.

As a result of the partnership’s enhanced quality control procedures, operational reliability, infrastructural performance, and customer confidence in India’s electricity distribution system will all see significant improvements. Additionally, it bolsters the Indian government’s goal of developing an RDSS-based energy distribution network that is cutting-edge, efficient, and environmentally friendly.

By working together, REC and CPRI have achieved a major step toward ensuring the nationwide rollout of RDSS with better quality assurance, technical excellence, and infrastructural dependability.
