On Wednesday, H D Kumaraswamy, the Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, presided over a consultation with high-level stakeholders in this city to promote the widespread use of electric buses and trucks. The gathering convened important players from all around India, such as fleet operators, aggregators, transportation executives, banks, leasing firms, and industry officials, in an effort to hasten the country’s transition to clean mobility.The purpose of the consultation was to gain a better grasp of the practicalities of operations, push for the rapid uptake of electric buses and trucks, and fortify partnerships between public and commercial entities, according to the document.
Establishing a solid foundation for the widespread use of electric buses and trucks in urban, intercity, and freight transportation networks, as well as boosting public trust in their widespread acceptance, were major topics of discussion.
Speaking to the audience, Kumaraswamy emphasised that electric buses will soon constitute the backbone of India’s passenger transportation system, and that electric trucks will revolutionise sustainable logistics and freight transit.A clear trend toward environmentally friendly and economically viable modes of transportation is beginning to take shape in India. “Electrified buses are going to revolutionise the way people travel, and electric trucks are going to usher in a new age of logistics and freight transportation in our nation,” the minister declared.
The Union minister emphasised the significance of collaborative policymaking, stating that the government will collaborate closely with operators and industry stakeholders to guarantee a realistic, inclusive, and economically viable shift to electric mobility in India.
