India-Israel Partnership Anchored in Shared Core Values: Israeli Envoy

The six pillars upon which the bilateral relationship rests—resilience, counter-terrorism, democracy, innovation, religious tolerance, and inclusive development—were emphasised by Israel’s ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, on Tuesday, while stressing the profound strategic and cultural connections between the two countries.

Attributing the strength of the connection to shared historical experiences and common principles, Azar characterised India-Israel ties as “special and unique” in a video message published on X.

Civilisational resilience and national resurrection, he added, are the foundations of the partnership, because both nations have managed to maintain their identities in the face of historical and external difficulties that have persisted for centuries.

Working together to counter extremism and terrorism is the second pillar, as stated by Azar.

In response to the rising tide of global terrorism, he said, the two countries have collaborated for decades to fortify their security responses and capacities.

Azar defined India as the biggest democracy in the world and emphasised democratic ideals as the third aspect, saying that freedoms like speech and entrepreneurship are crucial foundations for bilateral relations.

According to him, the fourth pillar of the cooperation is innovation and competitiveness. He went on to say that both nations are using innovation and technology to raise living standards and boost economic development.

The fifth core characteristic that Azar highlighted was religious tolerance and shared spiritual heritage. He cited India’s anti-Semitism-free history and its long history of peaceful coexistence.

According to him, the last tenet is inclusive development, in which the two countries collaborate to help the most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of society reap the advantages of economic growth.

Azar emphasised the close relationship between the two nations, saying that they should keep working together and putting their shared principles into action.

The strategic alliance between India and Israel has been strengthened in recent years by the two countries’ increasing involvement in various spheres, including defence, technology, agriculture, trade, and innovation.
