Government Implements VB-G RAM G Act Nationwide, Boosting Rural Jobs and Wages

Launched nationwide in 2025 by the Ministry of Rural Development, the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission – Gramin (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025 signifies a monumental overhaul of India’s framework for rural employment. In addition to raising wages and putting an emphasis on long-term rural development, the law gives qualified rural households 125 days of guaranteed wage work.

The government claims that the Act’s goals include empowering women to take the lead in development, conserving natural resources, increasing agricultural productivity, improving transparency, creating long-lasting communal assets, and strengthening rural livelihoods.

The federal government has announced new salary scales for all 50 states, U.S. territories, and designated wage zones in conjunction with the Act’s implementation. The new rates make guarantee that no worker in the nation receives a daily income under the program that is less than 300 rupees.

On a nationwide level, the average recognised pay has gone up from 298.8 to 327.4 rupees per day, or over 10%.

Greater financial support for rural workers has been provided by a number of states through salary hikes ranging from fifteen to twenty-five percent. These states include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh.

The government has already distributed an interim budget of Rs 95,692.31 crore to the states and union territories to ensure smooth implementation starting from the first day. The monies will be used to ensure that rural development projects are carried out, wages are paid on time, and employment is generated continuously.

The new law, according to Shivraj Singh Chouhan, India’s Union Minister of Rural Development and Agriculture, is a revolutionary move toward empowering rural areas.

With the goal of expediting the vision of a Viksit Bharat and providing dignity, livelihood stability, and self-reliance to millions of rural workers, he added that the VB-G RAM G Act is more than just a new employment law.

All financial, administrative, and technological preparations needed for the nationwide rollout have been completed, according to the Minister. This includes the Centre and the States.

Mukkavaripalle Village in the Tirupati region of Andhra Pradesh, located in the Obulavaripalle Mandal, will host the National Launch Programme of the Act on July 2, 2026. Both the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be in attendance at the ceremony.

Beneficiaries will receive Rural Employment Guarantee Cards at the launch event, which also includes the official unveiling of the VB-G RAM G software platform, the printing of important publications, interactions with beneficiaries, and the inauguration of activities to ensure the new law is effectively implemented.
