Bhogapuram Airport Expands Air India Connectivity
Air India will connect Bhogapuram with Delhi through 14 weekly services. These flights will provide passengers with access to the airline’s domestic and international network through its hubs.
The airline will also operate multiple services to Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Additional flights to Vijayawada will support connectivity across Andhra Pradesh.
The VTZ airport code will remain in use after the shift. The code is being transferred from the existing Visakhapatnam airport to the new facility.
New Terminal Supports Passenger Operations
The new terminal covers 77,342 square metres. It has 22 traditional check-in counters and 18 self-baggage drop units.
The facility also features advanced passenger screening systems, modern baggage handling infrastructure and seven aerobridges.
The current flight schedule will remain effective until October 24, 2026, in line with the prevailing aviation timetable.
Bhogapuram Airport to Serve Visakhapatnam Region
The airport serves the Visakhapatnam metropolitan region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the facility on August 1.
With scheduled commercial flights moving to Bhogapuram, the existing Visakhapatnam airport will continue to support defence and police operations. It will also handle VIP movements and certain unscheduled special flights.
Air India’s move is expected to improve connectivity for Visakhapatnam and northern Andhra Pradesh. It will also give passengers stronger access to key domestic destinations and onward connections through Delhi and other hubs.
