SECL Steps Up Focus on Coal Despatch from Dipka Mega Mine

SECL Director (Technical–Operations) N. Franklin Jayakumar visited the Dipka Mega Mine and reviewed its operational performance. The visit covered production, safety, monsoon preparedness and coal despatch.

The review also focused on improving coal evacuation and strengthening supplies to the power sector.

SECL Reviews Production and Mining Operations

During the visit, Jayakumar inspected departmental and contractual mining patches. These included the KCC patch.

He also reviewed coal stocks, transportation roads and existing coal evacuation arrangements. The mine team discussed operational challenges affecting production and despatch.

The review covered measures to improve mine operations during the monsoon season.

SECL Focuses on Power Sector Coal Despatch

Jayakumar stressed the need to increase coal despatch to the power sector. The focus includes sustained supplies to NTPC Sipat to support uninterrupted power generation.

The mine team also discussed ways to improve SILO capacity utilisation. Officials examined operational bottlenecks that could affect coal evacuation and despatch.

Improving these processes will help increase the efficiency of coal movement from the mine to power-sector consumers.

Safety and Monsoon Preparedness Remain Priorities

Jayakumar emphasised the need to maintain safe and efficient mining operations. He also called for close coordination among operational teams during the monsoon.

The visit reinforced SECL’s focus on production efficiency, safe mining and reliable coal supplies to the power sector.
