RECPDCL Transfers Vizag Power SPV to Adani Energy Solutions

RECPDCL has handed over Vizag Power Transmission Limited, a project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to Adani Energy Solutions Limited. The handover took place on August 14, 2026. The project will develop transmission infrastructure to support proposed green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Vizag region of Andhra Pradesh.

The project has an estimated cost of ₹8,386 crore and a 30-month implementation schedule. RECPDCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power.

RECPDCL Advances Vizag Transmission Infrastructure

Adani Energy Solutions emerged as the successful bidder through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL. The company will develop the project on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The project is titled “Transmission System for Proposed Green Hydrogen / Green Ammonia projects in Vizag area, Andhra Pradesh (Phase-I).”

The transmission system will include a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Pendurthi GIS substation and a 3×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Khammam-II substation.

It will also include 765 kV transmission lines connecting Pendurthi-Srikakulam, Khammam-II-Warangal New and Khammam-II-Pendurthi. A 400 kV line will connect Khammam-II with the existing Khammam substation.

₹8,386 Crore Project to Support Green Energy

The project will strengthen inter-state power transmission infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. Its network will support the planned development of green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Vizag area.

With a 30-month implementation schedule, the project is expected to create transmission capacity for emerging clean-energy projects.

The initiative aligns with India’s broader push to develop infrastructure for green hydrogen and other clean-energy applications. It will also strengthen power connectivity in Andhra Pradesh.

RECPDCL Project Supports Clean Energy Transition

The Vizag transmission project will provide critical power infrastructure for upcoming green hydrogen and green ammonia developments.

The project is expected to strengthen the region’s transmission network while supporting India’s clean-energy transition and the growth of emerging green-energy industries.
