During meetings in New Delhi on Sunday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reviewed the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and spoke about regional, global, and multilateral topics of mutual concern.
According to Jaishankar, the topics discussed spanned the entire gamut of bilateral cooperation, from energy and trade to military and security, vital minerals, AI, nuclear cooperation, and anti-terrorism and anti-drug initiatives. Additionally, he expressed his anticipation of Tuesday’s Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with his American, Japanese, and Australian counterparts.
According to Jaishankar, who spoke at a joint news briefing following meetings between delegations at Hyderabad House, the strategic alliance is motivated by shared national interests and the frequent engagement between the two capitals.
He outlined India’s five-point strategy for addressing global challenges, including the following: resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy; ensuring the safety and uninterrupted flow of maritime commerce; respecting international law; opposing the weaponization of trade and resources; and bolstering the global economy through trusted partnerships and resilient supply chains.
Notable authorities such as US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri were present at the meeting.
