Swasth Bharat Portal Launched to Strengthen India’s Digital Healthcare Network

According to India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Swasth Bharat Portal has been established. This platform is designed to integrate various national health program apps into one interoperable system.

The aim of the portal, which is an API-based aggregator, is to unify the public healthcare ecosystem by removing disparate databases, cutting down on unnecessary work, and making better use of available resources. It creates a single digital layer across programs, allowing for smooth interoperability.

By consolidating various programs into one user interface, the platform will greatly alleviate the administrative and data entry burdens experienced by frontline health workers such as ASHAs, ANMs, CHOs, and medical officers.

Supporting connection with Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts, the portal enables secure and seamless sharing of patient health records, in line with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Another feature is its ability to connect with national databases like the Healthcare Providers Registry (HPR) and the Health Facility Registry (HFR).

Consolidation, according to government estimates, could result in infrastructure savings of 20-30%, a reduction of repetitive data entry of up to 40%, and a minimisation of human resource duplication.

At India’s 10th National Summit on Innovation and Inclusivity, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda presented the platform, praising it as a big leap forward in data-driven, efficient healthcare administration.

A major step forward in India’s digital health transition, the Swasth Bharat Portal, which is built on a federated architecture, is anticipated to speed up decision-making.
