RITES Bags ASSOCHAM Award for Excellence in USBRL Bridges

The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), which RITES Ltd. helped build, was named a “Strategically Significant Infrastructure Project” and was thus honoured with the Assocham Achiever’s Award 2026.

At an ASSOCHAM meeting in New Delhi, Nitin Gadkari handed the prize to the company, praising its work on a particularly difficult railway project in India. The project involved the delivery of vital bridge infrastructure.

In its role as an integral element of the engineering and consulting team, RITES designed the alignment and conducted thorough surveys of the Himalayan landscape. They also designed and verified the construction of twenty-five bridges and conducted technical audits on twenty-one more. The Chenab Bridge and the Anji Khad Bridge were among these famous buildings.

Composite continuous railway bridges were first used in India on this project. Other engineering advances were long-span girders, seismic-resilient designs adapted to mountainous areas, and advanced steel-concrete truss superstructures.

RITES also enhanced safety and long-term reliability by implementing Structural Health Monitoring Systems (SHMS) across important assets. These systems allow for real-time performance tracking.

The firm has been instrumental in guaranteeing the USBRL project’s structural integrity through its end-to-end engagement in engineering, validation, quality assurance, and monitoring. The project is anticipated to provide the Kashmir Valley with all-weather connectivity.

Thanks to their dedication to technological innovation, emphasis on quality and safety, and rising to the top of the industry, RITES is becoming the go-to company for completing complicated infrastructure projects.
