NTPC Limited, the country’s largest power generation company, plans to add 58 gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity to reach 149 GW by 2032, Chairman Gurdeep Singh said on Tuesday.

The new capacity additions will include various energy sources, including renewables, Singh said while addressing the KPMG ENRich 2026 event in New Delhi. He also outlined NTPC’s plans for the nuclear energy sector.

NTPC currently has an installed power generation capacity of 91 GW. Singh said the company aims to increase this to 149 GW by 2032.

Speaking about the domestic power sector, Singh said it has demonstrated resilience amid ongoing global challenges.

“Despite all kind of turmoils across the globe, in India we have not seen surge in energy prices. I think in India we have not seen that type of surge like we have noticed in other parts of the world,” he said.

Singh also noted that power demand increased by 21% in October this year and continues to rise every month.

Under the Ministry of Power, NTPC is India’s largest power generation company and independently caters to one-fourth of the country’s energy demand.
