In order to bring primary healthcare to underprivileged areas in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, the REC Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of REC Limited, has partnered with Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial (LLRM) Medical College to establish a doorstep service.
This agreement, signed on May 21, 2026, is a reflection of the REC Foundation’s ongoing commitment to last-mile medical service support and expanding access to healthcare.
Along with senior REC officials such as Director (Projects) TSC Bosh, Director (Finance) Rajesh Kumar, Executive Director (CSR) Arun Kumar Tyagi, and Head of Department (CSR) Bhupesh Chandolia, Member of Parliament Arun Govil and Principal of LLRM Medical College Ramesh Gupta were present at the signing ceremony.
The agreement states that the REC Foundation will provide Rs 1.20 crore to cover the costs of acquiring and deploying a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), as well as providing operational support for three years.
It is believed that the mobile healthcare center will bring much-needed medical services to underserved areas, allowing those who live far from hospitals and clinics better access to treatment when they need it.
The program is a part of REC Foundation’s larger corporate social responsibility plan, which aims to build healthcare infrastructure nationwide and promote equitable growth, according to the organization.
To close the healthcare gap and provide access to medical treatment for marginalised communities, the foundation highlighted the significance of targeted healthcare initiatives like mobile medical units.
