Modi thanked the Indian diaspora for helping to fortify bilateral relations in a post on the social media site X.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Indian community in Italy for the incredible reception I received last night in Rome. Their dedication to enhancing India-Italy ties and profound love for India are genuinely admirable,” he remarked.
Before their official bilateral engagements, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had a dinner together. He continued by saying that talks would keep going on how to advance the India-Italy partnership and sharing photos from the meeting.
“After touching down in Rome, I had the chance to have dinner with Prime Minister Meloni and then see the world-famous Colosseum. We spoke about many different topics and shared our views on them. “I am eagerly anticipating our meeting today, during which we will prolong the discussion regarding ways to strengthen the friendship between India and Italy,” Modi stated on X.
On Tuesday night, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Rome, marking the final leg of his five-nation tour. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed him upon his arrival. Noting the friendly relationship between the two heads of state, Meloni wrote, “Welcome to Rome, my friend!” in an X post.
Prime Minister Modi is expected to meet with President Sergio Mattarella of Italy and have bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Meloni during his visit.
At their meeting at Villa Doria Pamphili, the prime minister and prime minister will likely sign a joint declaration that will seek to strengthen the strategic relationship between India and Italy.
According to Randhir Jaiswal, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit is anticipated to give bilateral engagement new impetus.
A complex and long-standing partnership exists between Italy and India. According to Jaiswal’s post on X, the visit is expected to give the India-Italy partnership a boost. He mentioned that Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani welcomed PM Modi at the airport.
As the two nations move forward with the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029, the Ministry of External Affairs reports that the visit coincides with a rising tide in bilateral relations.
The growing breadth of the strategic relationship between India and Italy is reflected in the roadmap’s emphasis on increasing collaboration in areas such as trade and investment, defence, renewable energy, innovation, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
