While in Surat on June 5, which happens to be World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two key sections of the Delhi-Mumbai Motorway and lay the foundation stone for multiple projects worth a total of Rs 12,421 crore.
Improving road connections across South Gujarat, lowering logistics costs, speeding up freight transportation, and bolstering economic growth in the state’s industrial, coastal, and tribal regions are all goals of the infrastructure programs.
Along with the 27.5-kilometer Gandeva-Ena portion (Package VII) and the 36-kilometer Kim-Ena segment (Package VI) of the Vadodara-Mumbai Motorway corridor, the Prime Minister will launch both sections during his visit.
Incorporating substantial infrastructure such as flyovers, vehicular underpasses, major and minor bridges, rail-road crossings and sections of the ambitious Delhi-Mumbai Motorway, the two segments were constructed at a cost of Rs 7,689 crore.
Officials from the government have stated that 70 underpasses and 2 interchanges have been built over the two sections to facilitate better local connectivity and traffic flow.
Regional transport networks are anticipated to be greatly enhanced by the eight-lane motorway, allowing for quicker movement of both passengers and freight. Along these parts, there will be seven designated rest spots to improve road safety and make travel easier for travellers.
According to the government, the Bharatmala infrastructure development programme would be able to achieve its overarching goals with the opening of these motorway segments, which will speed up the delivery of goods and assist reduce logistical costs for regional industry.
Manufacturing centers, trade corridors, and companies operating in South Gujarat and the surrounding areas stand to gain from improved connectivity.
