Rairangpur to Host President Murmu and PM Modi at Key Event on June 20

To commemorate the end of the second year of the BJP-led administration in Odisha, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to attend a special event in Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj district, on June 20, according to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presided over a high-level conference at Lok Seva Bhawan to finalize the event’s arrangements, and the confirmation came afterward. It was ordered that officials provide enough parking at the site, provide for the public’s basic needs to be met, and maintain proper security.

With the president and prime minister both expected to be in attendance, the chief minister emphasized the importance of the program’s effective and well-organized execution and urged officials to pay particular attention to all relevant arrangements.

With the current situation in West Asia, Chief Minister Majhi has ordered that the celebrations marking the state government’s second year in office be observed in a low-key manner. This comes after he extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to New Delhi.

“The celebrations should be simple and subdued,” the Chief Minister ordered, advising staff to stop planning extravagant parties and instead focus on the accomplishments of the previous two years of government.

After defeating the Biju Janata Dal for the second time in 24 years in the Assembly elections on June 12, 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took power for the first time. State authorities are prioritizing logistics, security, and public access for the June 20 program in Rairangpur, which will serve as the main event to honour that milestone.

The Chief Minister’s office is overseeing the ongoing preparations, which aim to strike a balance between the necessity for a dignified official commemoration and the sensitivities caused by the current international situation.
