U.S. companies have pledged investments totalling more than USD 60 billion in the past six months, according to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. This figure includes substantial investments in data centers made by giants like Amazon and Google. He claimed that India offers an unparalleled combination of size, skill, and market opportunity, and that it provides a reliable foundation for multinational corporations.
At the American Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Leadership Summit, he announced that American industry had committed over USD 60 billion in the past six months, with companies like Amazon and Google investing heavily in data centers.
The minister made the case that the United States is seeking a reliable partner, and that India fits the bill because of its long history of timely, high-quality production that has never compromised on intellectual property rights.
Based on demand aggregation from 1.4 billion aspiring Indians, rising incomes, and a developing middle class, India offers a vast reservoir of talented individuals and scales up American innovation, according to Goyal.
Later, briefing the media, he said, “The US has announced investments worth around Rs 6 lakh crore in India in the last few months, in data centres, new factories, semiconductor plants and various other things”.
“Both nations are collaborating on cutting-edge tech like AI, quantum computing, and machine learning,” he said. The first phase of a bilateral trade agreement (BTA) has been concluded, he continued, and as a result, India would enjoy privileged access to the approximately $30 trillion US market.
Plus, he mentioned that US President Donald Trump frequently refers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “very” close friend. So, I believe it’s really appropriate that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is visiting India right now; it shows the deepening relationship between our two countries, which will open up more chances for our young people, farmers, women, entrepreneurs, startups, companies, and industries.
Beginning on May 23, Rubio will travel to India for four days to discuss potential energy, defence, and commerce cooperation. His journey to India will be an inaugural one.
