NTPC Bongaigaon Hosts Vibrant Bohagi Utsav and Bwisagu Celebrations

On May 14, the Employee Welfare Association (EWA) of NTPC Limited’s Bongaigaon station celebrated Bohagi Utsav 2026. This event marked the end of the Assamese New Year celebrations and further demonstrated the company’s commitment to employee involvement and cultural inclusivity. Participation from staff, their families, and invited guests was overwhelming at the party, which was planned as a component of the station’s cultural outreach and employee welfare programs.

Presence of Kasturi Maitra, President of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, and Anurag Gupta, General Manager (Operations and Maintenance), formally inaugurated the event. Gupta, speaking to the assembly, emphasised the township’s multicultural nature, describing it as a meeting place of varied traditions and communities, that is the NTPC Bongaigaon. He said that the organization’s dedication to diversity, inclusion, and social harmony is shown by hosting festivals from various cultures on the same platform.

A diverse range of performances reflected the artistic and ethnic diversity of the region, as showcased in the cultural program. The highlight of the event was undoubtedly a performance of classical Sattriya dance, but the folk dance presentations by the cultural troupes of Tiwa, Bodo, and Rabha were just as impressive, mesmerising with their traditional music, colourful costumes, and indigenous dance styles.

Live performances of traditional Husori music and lively Bihu dances showcased the rich cultural history and joyous customs of Assam throughout the evening.

The lively ambiance was elevated by the rhythmic accompaniment of traditional instruments like the Dhol and Pepa, which provided guests with an immersive cultural experience.

Symbolising cultural integration and communal harmony within the township, the celebrations also included elements of Bwisagu, the traditional New Year festival of the Bodo community.

There was a lot of community involvement and joyous celebration because department heads, workers, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club members, and township residents all showed up.

According to NTPC Bongaigaon, cultural initiatives like these help reinforce social bonds and workplace cohesion by giving employees and their families a chance to participate in regional traditions.

It is a reflection of NTPC Bongaigaon’s ongoing commitment to its employees’ well-being, cultural preservation, and creating an inclusive work environment that the celebration is taking place.
