New Passenger Train Service Launched on Dohrighat–Mau–Aunrihar Line by Ashwini Vaishnaw

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister of Railways, officially off the Aunrihar-Dohrighat passenger train on Monday, fulfilling a long-overdue demand from the districts of Mau and Ghazipur and improving rail connection in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Sadat, Jakhanian, Dullahapur, Mau, Indara, Kopaganj, Ghosi, Amila, and Muradpur are crucial stations that the daily passenger service will stop at with an eight-coach rake. Varanasi, a significant cultural and commercial center, would soon have better access to the service, according to the ministry. In addition to bolstering local commerce, tourism, education, and jobs, the new train is anticipated to offer dependable and reasonably priced connectivity to inhabitants of the Purvanchal region.

A new express train, to be launched by Vaishnaw, will boost east-north connectivity by linking Chhapra to Delhi via important cities including Mau, Azamgarh, Lucknow, and Kanpur.

Railway investment in Uttar Pradesh has increased dramatically since 2014, with projects worth over ₹1.2 lakh crore already in the works, according to the minister, who was highlighting the state’s infrastructure progress. It was brought to his attention that the old Indara-Dohrighat line, which was constructed in 1904, has been upgraded to broad gauge, allowing for the functioning of modern rail systems.

The minister elaborated by saying that the state’s rail network will undergo a radical makeover thanks to the Amrit Bharat scheme’s station redevelopment, new train lines, and doubling projects, as well as massive multi-line corridors along and across the Ganga.

In order to improve regional connectivity and economic growth, he also brought attention to plans for a new bridge near Namo Ghat in Varanasi. He reiterated the government’s desire for a high-speed bullet train route that will connect Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, and beyond.
