Microsoft Expands India Cloud Network with New Hyderabad Region

Microsoft has launched its India South Central cloud region in Hyderabad, Telangana, expanding its cloud infrastructure to support the country’s growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation services. The new region is expected to help enterprises deploy AI applications more efficiently while strengthening Microsoft’s cloud presence in India.

With the addition of the Hyderabad region, Microsoft now operates four cloud regions in the country, giving it India’s largest hyperscale cloud infrastructure footprint. The facility will enable customers to access eligible Microsoft Cloud services and run workloads locally, offering improved security, reliability and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Designed to support AI workloads, mission critical digital systems and enterprise applications, the India South Central cloud region features three Availability Zones to ensure high availability and business continuity for organisations across industries.

Puneet Chandok, President, Microsoft India and South Asia, said the new cloud region will help businesses accelerate their AI journey by enabling them to move beyond pilot projects and create long term business value.

He added that the Hyderabad region brings secure cloud infrastructure closer to businesses and data sources, reinforcing Microsoft’s commitment to advancing AI and cloud adoption across India.

According to Microsoft, the new cloud region has already generated strong interest from leading Indian enterprises, including Adani Group, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and PB Pay.

The company also noted that Azure has recorded double digit growth in India over the past two years and expects further momentum as the Hyderabad cloud region becomes fully operational.

The launch comes at a time when organisations across sectors such as technology, financial services and manufacturing are increasing investments in AI and cloud based services to improve operational efficiency and accelerate digital transformation.

Microsoft said the Hyderabad facility incorporates advanced infrastructure technologies, including mechanical cooling systems designed to achieve zero water consumption, supporting the company’s sustainability goals.

Reaffirming its long-term commitment to India’s digital ecosystem, Microsoft said it remains on track with its goal of training 20 million people in AI skills by 2030, helping build a future ready workforce while supporting the country’s expanding AI economy.
