Indian Railways’ Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has ordered staff to make sure passengers aren’t inconvenienced during the update to the reservation system.
A high-capacity system driven by cutting-edge technology has replaced the nearly 40-year-old reservation platform that was established in 1986 as a result of the makeover. Streamlined migration and an enhanced passenger experience were highlighted by the minister during a review meeting held at Rail Bhawan.
The RailOne mobile app has exceeded 3.5 crore downloads since its inception last year, and online channels now handle approximately 88% of ticket bookings, according to Indian Railways. With an accuracy rate that has increased from 53% to 94%, the app now provides waitlist confirmation forecasts powered by AI.
Ticket purchases, changes, refunds, live train monitoring, platform details, complaint handling, and in-flight meal ordering are all part of the RailOne platform’s integrated suite of services. Additionally, Indian Railways said that in 2024–25, it subsidised passenger fares by an average of 43%, amounting to Rs 60,239 crore.
