Fuel Prices in India Stay Stable for 4+ Years Amid Global Turmoil

Hardeep Singh Puri, India’s minister of petroleum and natural gas, stated that, despite the continuous volatility in global energy markets, the country’s petrol and diesel prices had remained stable for more than four years.

Global energy dynamics have been profoundly affected by geopolitical tensions, disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, conflicts, and supply chain issues, according to Puri, who made the observation while speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference – South Gujarat in Surat.

Despite fuel price hikes of 39–66%, supply shortages, and rationing in several of its bordering nations, he stressed that India had maintained stable prices by avoiding reactionary policy moves.

As part of its outreach campaign, Vibrant Gujarat is getting the word out about energy security and economic resilience in the lead-up to its next global summit cycle.

The gathering was also addressed by C. R. Patil, the Union Jal Shakti Minister, who emphasised the industrial contributions of Surat to national infrastructure and defence initiatives. He mentioned the Chenab Rail Bridge, which used steel from AM/NS, and the Hazira factory, which produces K9 Vajra units for Larsen & Toubro.

In his discussion of water management, Patil brought attention to the fact that the Surat Municipal Corporation earns over ₹300 crore per year from treated wastewater reuse and the fact that over 70 lakh conservation structures have been built with the help of the public.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of sustainable water usage, saying that 83% of water consumption is attributed to agriculture, with families and industry following closely behind. He underlined the necessity for enterprises to embrace responsible groundwater practices.

In light of the changing nature of global challenges, the conference reaffirmed India’s commitment to achieving a balance between energy security, economic stability, and sustainable management of resources.
