Schneider Electric Partners with Tamil Nadu to Train 25,000 Youth

Schneider Electric India Foundation (SEIF) has partnered with the Government of Tamil Nadu to establish advanced skill training centres across 70 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), creating learning opportunities for approximately 25,000 young people in electrical technology and industrial automation.

The first 30 centres were inaugurated on October 28, 2026, at Government ITI, Guindy, in Chennai. The government also exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding to set up another 40 centres, extending the initiative’s reach across the state.

Implemented through Tamil Nadu’s Directorate of Employment and Training, the programme will combine upgraded training infrastructure with instructor development to bring vocational education closer to industry requirements.

SEIF will train instructors across all 70 participating ITIs, helping them use the facilities effectively and deliver relevant technical training in energy technology and industrial automation.

Deepak Sharma, Zone President, Greater India, and Managing Director and CEO of Schneider Electric India, highlighted the importance of government–industry collaboration in preparing a skilled workforce. He said the partnership aims to strengthen vocational infrastructure, develop trainer capabilities and bridge the gap between technical education and changing industry needs.

The initiative seeks to broaden access to practical technical skills and prepare young people for emerging employment opportunities in the energy and automation sectors.
