On June 19, 2026, the esteemed K. Kailashnathan, IAS (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, opened the 25th Neyveli Book Fair 2026, the Silver Jubilee edition of the esteemed literary event organised by NLC India Limited (NLCIL). Beginning in 1998, the Neyveli Book Fair has grown into one of the most renowned literary events in the Cuddalore district and nearby regions. This event marked a crucial milestone in its journey.
Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL, was joined at the inaugural ceremony by other functional directors such as Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director of Mines, Samir Swarup, Director of Human Resources, Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director of Finance, and Rajesh Pratap Singh Sisodia, Director of P&P and Power (Additional Charge). Participating in the event were senior executives, employees, representatives of welfare associations, teachers, students, and members of the public.
Among the most well-organised book fairs in the nation, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli spoke highly of the Neyveli Book Fair, praising its spectacular rise to prominence. He brought up the fact that the fair had national significance when former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam wanted to go there. He highlighted the event’s educational value by mentioning that last year over 70,000 children from about 1,000 schools and over 30,000 kids from Neyveli Township attended the fair.
Honouring Jambulinga Mudaliar, whose land donation was instrumental in establishing NLCIL, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan spoke to the assembly. He was proud to be a part of the Silver Jubilee festivities and spoke highly of the role that book fairs play in encouraging young people to read. His view is that the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 can only be attained via the cultivation of knowledge, and that reading is a great way to get there.
Thanks to community- and education-focused events like the book fair, NLC India Limited has been able to meet its social responsibility obligations, according to the Lieutenant Governor. In addition, he proposed turning the Neyveli Book Fair into an official literary festival at a later date.
One of the most notable aspects of the gathering was the launch of Prasanna Kumar Motupalli’s new book, “Perfect Take Off: Leadership & Workplace Principles.” This book offers 25 guidelines for professionals to follow in order to improve their leadership skills and move up the corporate ladder.
As the first day of festivities came to a close, a spectacular light music show added a cultural touch. Over the course of its ten days, from June 1st to June 29th, 2026, the Neyveli Book Fair will provide attendees with an opportunity to peruse an extensive collection of books, as well as educational materials and literary events.
