The Reserve Bank of India has approved Virat Sunil Diwanji as Executive Director of Federal Bank for a three-year term starting October 12, 2026.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Virat Sunil Diwanji as Executive Director of Federal Bank.
Diwanji will assume charge as Additional Executive Director on October 12, 2026, for a three-year term.
Federal Bank will seek shareholders’ approval within three months of his taking charge.
Virat Diwanji Federal Bank ED Appointment Gets RBI Approval
The Virat Diwanji Federal Bank ED appointment follows RBI approval for his elevation to the executive leadership position.
Diwanji currently serves as National Head – Consumer Banking at Federal Bank.
He joined the bank in April 2025 and oversees branch banking, retail assets and liabilities, wealth management, business banking, digital initiatives and customer experience.
Virat Diwanji Brings Three Decades of Banking Experience
Before joining Federal Bank, Diwanji spent more than three decades with the Kotak Mahindra Group.
He rose to become Group President & Head – Consumer Bank during his tenure with the group.
Diwanji also serves as a Non-Executive Director on the board of Ageas Federal Life Insurance Company Limited.
Federal Bank ED to Take Charge on October 12
Diwanji will take charge as Additional Executive Director on October 12, 2026.
His initial term as Executive Director will run for three years, subject to the required approvals.
Federal Bank has confirmed that Diwanji is not related to any existing director of the bank.
The bank has also confirmed that he is not debarred from holding the office of director by any regulatory authority.
Federal Bank Informs Stock Exchanges
Federal Bank has informed the stock exchanges about the RBI approval and Diwanji’s appointment.
The development marks a leadership change at the private sector lender as Diwanji moves from his current consumer banking role to the Executive Director position.
