Rajasthan Gets Major Infrastructure Boost as PM Modi Inaugurates Pachpadra Refinery and Jaipur Metro Phase 2

The first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in India was opened on Saturday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Pachpadra in Balotra district, Rajasthan. This is a major step forward for India’s energy sector. Energy security, petrochemical production, and regional employment are all anticipated to be positively impacted by the project.

The prime minister spoke with engineers and other technical staff, toured the refinery’s state-of-the-art control room, and observed the refining process for crude oil during his visit. Following his viewing of the video detailing the project’s development history, he went on to plant a seedling on the refinery campus.

At a public event that drew over 5,000 people—including locals, BJP workers, youth, and women—Prime Minister Modi was accompanied by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and senior officials.

Jaipur Metro Phase 2, a massive urban transit project with the goal of enhancing public mobility in the state capital, was also practically placed into the ground by the prime minister. Senior political figures and civilians from Jaipur’s SMS Indoor Stadium participated in the ceremony, which was aired simultaneously.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier today unveiled the redesigned UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) Scheme and inaugurated the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport, reiterating the government’s pledge to increase regional air connectivity and fortify India’s aviation infrastructure.

In April, a fire broke out in the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and the Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU), delaying the refinery’s initial launch. The project has been formally dedicated to the nation after restoration and safety approvals, further solidifying Rajasthan’s position as a growing energy and industrial hub.
