OIL Green Energy, Hindustan Waste Treatment Launch Strategic JV for Bioenergy Development

In order to create bioenergy and environmentally friendly waste management initiatives all throughout India, Oil India Ltd.’s renewable energy subsidiary, OIL Green Energy Ltd. (OGEL), and Hindustan Waste Treatment Pvt. Ltd. (HWT) have inked a Joint Venture Agreement.

In order to help India achieve its clean energy transition and circular economy objectives, the alliance suggests forming a 50/50 joint venture business that will concentrate on sustainable infrastructure projects, compressed biogas (CBG), and waste-to-energy.

The Maharatna PSU Oil India Ltd. (OIL), which reports to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is diversifying its business interests beyond traditional hydrocarbons to include green and renewable energy. With the formation of OGEL, the corporation has taken the lead in pursuing clean energy strategies, such as CBG and new renewable options.

Bioenergy initiatives utilising municipal solid waste can benefit from the knowledge and experience of HWT, a division of SFC Environmental Technologies Ltd. A biogas plant in North Goa that uses MSW has been running well for more than ten years, and the company has also implemented other cutting-edge international technology across India.

Opportunities in CBG, integrated waste-to-energy, and resource recovery projects will be identified and developed across the country by the proposed business.

By integrating OGEL’s institutional and energy sector skills with HWT’s technical and operational knowledge in the bioenergy field, the two organisations hope to bolster India’s energy independence and Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, according to officials from both groups.

Effective waste management and resource recovery infrastructure, as well as sustainable and scalable clean energy solutions, are anticipated outcomes of the collaboration.
