Adani Energy Solutions Secures ₹4,700 Crore Grid Infrastructure Order
Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL) has won a major power infrastructure contract worth ₹4,700 crore. The AESL Maharashtra Transmission Project will evacuate 4,500 MW of renewable power from Karnataka to key load centers across Maharashtra. The development expands grid integration and strengthens power supply across the Satara, Pune, and Mumbai Metropolitan Regions. AESL secured the contract through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding process after filing the lowest bid.
AESL Maharashtra Transmission Project Infrastructure Specifications
AESL will execute the contract through a Special Purpose Vehicle named Satara Power Transmission Ltd. The company plans to complete the entire construction scope within a 36-month timeline. The primary infrastructure scope includes the establishment of a new 765/400 kV substation at Satara alongside a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Kolhapur and Satara.
The scope also covers the direct augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station and its associated grid setups. Overall, the initiative adds 562 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to the company’s asset base. Upon completion, AESL’s total operational network will expand to 29,739 circuit kilometers with a cumulative transformation capacity of 143,425 MVA.
Supporting India’s Clean Energy Transition
The transmission line directly supports regional pumped storage projects by balancing peak power demand and integrating variable renewable energy sources. Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd., noted that pumped storage acts as a critical enabler for India’s clean energy goals by delivering necessary grid flexibility. He highlighted that the Satara project creates a vital transmission backbone to strengthen power flows between Southern and Western India.
India continues to work toward its strategic target of installing 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030. High-capacity transmission corridors remain indispensable for connecting resource-rich green pockets with major urban and industrial consumption centers.
