G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister of Coal and Mines, conducted a performance evaluation of Odisha-based coal and mining companies on Monday. The review aimed to improve coal production, fortify evacuation infrastructure, speed up project development, and encourage sustainable mining practices.
Inaugural session attendees included Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Odisha’s Minister of Commerce, Transport, Steel, and Mines, who was present at the review meeting in Bhubaneswar.
While in Odisha, the Union Minister visited the coal and mine ministries to personally oversee PSUs and private sector businesses.
The Chief Management Director (CMD) of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Uday Anant Kaole, briefed the Minister on the company’s operating performance, current efforts, and plans for infrastructure development while Coal India Limited (CIL) Chairman B. Sairam was also present.
Efforts to increase operational efficiency, develop logistical infrastructure, and bolster MCL’s contribution to the energy security of the country were highlighted in the presentation. Additionally, the business detailed its expansion strategies for the future with an eye on increasing coal production capacities.
In keeping with the goals of the Central Government to enhance India’s energy security, the evaluation focused on boosting coal production, enhancing coal evacuation systems, expanding into renewable energy projects, and guaranteeing ecologically sound mining procedures.
Reddy had earlier that day celebrated the professionalism, bravery, and dedication to mine safety and emergency response readiness among the Women Mines Rescue Team members of MCL. He spoke highly of the group for demonstrating how important it is to include women in mining operations.
