Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), India’s largest city gas retailer, announced a reduction in the price of piped cooking gas for households, effective January 1.
The price drop is Rs 0.70 per standard cubic metre (scm), resulting in revised rates of Rs 47.89 per scm in Delhi, Rs 46.70 in Gurugram, and Rs 47.76 in Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.
This decrease is attributed to recent changes in pipeline tariffs by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), aimed at lowering transportation costs of natural gas.
The new tariff structure simplifies transportation, reducing distance-based zones from three to two and standardizing lower rates for customers nationwide. IGL emphasized its commitment to making clean energy accessible and affordable as it approaches 2026.
