Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited has approved a ₹2,896 crore capital outlay for a greenfield shipyard at Raichak to expand naval and commercial shipbuilding capacity.
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has approved a capital outlay of ₹2,896 crore for its proposed GRSE Greenfield Shipyard at Raichak.
The Board of Directors approved the investment at its 423rd meeting held on 21 September 2026. The project will expand the company’s shipbuilding infrastructure and capacity.
GRSE Greenfield Shipyard to Expand Shipbuilding Capacity
The new shipyard will support GRSE’s naval and commercial shipbuilding operations. The project is part of the company’s broader capacity expansion plan.
GRSE had earlier disclosed the plan on 24 August 2026. The expansion programme includes three new facilities, with Raichak being one of the planned locations.
₹2,896 Crore Capital Outlay Approved
The Board approved a capital budgetary outlay of ₹2,896 crore for construction of the greenfield shipyard.
The investment is aimed at creating additional shipbuilding capacity and supporting GRSE’s future infrastructure requirements across the naval and commercial segments.
GRSE Board Meeting Concludes After Investment Approval
The Board meeting started at 2:30 p.m. and concluded at 4:30 p.m. The approval clears the capital investment for the Raichak project.
The GRSE Greenfield Shipyard forms part of the company’s long-term capacity expansion programme and is expected to strengthen its infrastructure for naval and commercial shipbuilding.
