On June 15, the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference will be held in Goa by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). This event will bring together specialists, manufacturers, developers, politicians, and business leaders from the wind energy sector to discuss and plan the future of wind power in India.
With the topic “Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration,” the conference will tackle important matters regarding the expansion of the wind energy industry and the promotion of India’s objectives for the clean energy transition.
Resources being sufficient, grid preparedness, rapid capacity addition, competitiveness of domestic industry, export prospects, technology for energy forecasting, and solutions for renewable energy firming will be the topics of debate, according to the ministry.
As India aims to solidify its position among the world’s leading renewable energy markets, the event is anticipated to be pivotal in formulating a strategy for the long-term expansion of the wind energy sector in the country.
The conference is the venue for the unveiling of numerous knowledge papers and industry reports. The possibility of India becoming a world leader in the production and export of wind turbines and associated machinery is one of the topics covered in a forthcoming comprehensive study.
Representatives from renewable energy developers, equipment manufacturers, regulatory organisations, government agencies, and industry experts will be participating in the conference’s high-level plenary sessions and panel discussions.
Accelerating project execution, improving policy implementation, and strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities will be the focus of these conversations.
As a result of its fast renewable energy portfolio expansion, India is now the fourth biggest wind power market in the world.
With 100 GW of installed wind power capacity by 2030 and 155 GW by 2035, the country has set an ambitious goal.
As a whole, these goals are essential to India’s plan to eliminate carbon emissions entirely by the year 2070 and increase its non-fossil fuel energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030.
Wind power is a key component of India’s renewable energy strategy, according to Pralhad Joshi, India’s union minister for consumer affairs and new and renewable energy.
Wind power is important to India’s renewable energy plan, and the record-breaking 6.1 GW addition in 2025–26 exemplifies the power of combined government and private sector efforts. “Acceleration is required for the next phase,” the minister declared.
In addition, he brought attention to the fact that Global Wind Day 2026 is a chance to put an end to lofty policy goals and instead concentrate on massive implementation, putting India in a prime position to reap the benefits of the increasing worldwide demand for renewable energy sources.
India is seeing a surge in investment in renewable energy infrastructure and industry, which is why the timing of the conference couldn’t be better.
Minister Pralhad Joshi showcased India’s fast advancement in green energy deployment and policy reforms earlier this year while promoting the country’s renewable energy potential to international investors at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
Achieving India’s long-term wind energy ambitions, according to industry stakeholders, will require greater domestic manufacturing, enhanced transmission infrastructure, and improved policy certainty.
In order to fortify India’s position in the global renewable energy supply chain, expedite investments, and enhance project execution, the conference is anticipated to produce practical suggestions.
India hopes to accelerate the shift to a cleaner energy future and further its wind energy objectives at the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference. India aims to achieve its long-term climate and energy security goals by becoming a major player in the global wind energy ecosystem through ambitious capacity targets, improving manufacturing capabilities, and a growing worldwide interest in renewable energy investments.
