GAIL Launches 74 kW Rooftop Solar Project in Varanasi to Promote Green Energy

The GAIL (India) Limited Rooftop Solar Project in Varanasi, which has a capacity of 74 kW, demonstrates the company’s dedication to renewable energy and social responsibility. Another step toward a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for the company was marked by the official inauguration of the project by Rajeev Kumar Singhal, Director (Business Development). Reliable access to power for local households is likely to be greatly enhanced by the recently commissioned rooftop solar project, which is estimated to provide over 1 lakh units of clean electricity yearly. The initiative aims to decrease carbon emissions in one of India’s most culturally and historically important cities by reducing reliance on traditional power sources and increasing the use of solar energy.

Expanding renewable energy generation and speeding up the transition to sustainable power solutions are important goals of the Indian government, and this project is in line with those goals. A city like Varanasi, with its storied past and expanding urban population, is nevertheless struggling to keep up with the rising energy demands of its residents.

This project shows how metropolitan areas can use renewable energy technologies while still protecting their cultural legacy.
