As part of its ambition to expand into renewable energy, GAIL (India) Limited has inked contract agreements with TUSCO Limited to build a 600 MW solar power project at a solar park in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
To provide a steady and effective supply of electricity, the project will incorporate a 550 MWh BESS. In addition to meeting the captive energy needs of GAIL’s petrochemical facility in Pata, Auraiya district, it will also be able to handle extra demand from gas-based equipment electrification and future CBG projects in the state.
R K Singhal, Director (Business Development) of GAIL, and Anil Tyagi, CEO of TUSCO, were among the senior officials from both organisations present during the agreement’s signing.
This project is in line with GAIL’s plans to expand its business in Uttar Pradesh and provide sustainable and low-carbon energy solutions.
