Twenty high-ranking officials have been appointed to the posts of Joint Secretary and equivalent by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) in various Indian government ministries and departments. The appointments are intended to enhance administrative leadership in important sectors and will be effective from the date of assumption of charge.
The newly appointed officers will be working in various important ministries such as Atomic Energy, Coal, Consumer Affairs, Financial Services, Fisheries, Revenue, Social Justice & Empowerment, Housing & Urban Affairs, Atomic Energy, Atomic Energy, Coal, Consumer Affairs, Corporate Affairs, DIPAM, and Housing & Urban Affairs. On multiple occasions, officials from various central services, including the IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, IRTS, IRSEE, IA&AS, and IES, have been appointed.
Avanish Kumar Mishra is joining the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare as a Joint Secretary, and Abhijit Phukon is joining the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances. In the Department of Atomic Energy, Anish Kumar has been appointed Joint Secretary, and in the Ministry of Coal, Satish Kumar has taken charge as Coal Controller.
In addition, the following individuals were appointed by the ACC: Sumit Garg to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), Ashutosh Jain to the position of Chief Management Director (CMD) of the National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation, Kartikaye Mathur to the position of Advisor at the National Database Management Authority (NDMA), and Kuldip Narayan to the position of Advisor at the National Institution for Trans
Joint Secretaries Divesh Sehara and Saurabh Kumar of the Department of Financial Services, Gunjan Krishna of the Department of Fisheries, Executive Director Tejpartap Singh of the Food Corporation of India, Principal Commissioner Neha Verma of the Delhi Development Authority, and Director Satya Pal Kumar of FIU-IND are among the other notable postings. The majority of appointments are for five years, however some are for as long as the officer’s combined deputation tenure or until superannuation ends.
The most recent appointments show that the administration is still committed to improving policy implementation, administrative efficiency, and governance in key ministries and independent institutions. Government programs and institutional improvements are anticipated to be advanced by the officers.
With the ACC’s green light for 20 high-ranking appointees, the government is stepping up its attempts to put seasoned officials in key roles to streamline policy implementation across departments and enhance governance.
