Indian Navy Names Rear Admiral Sameer Sanjay Pote as 19th Flag Officer Submarines

Sameer Sanjay Pote has assumed charge as the 19th Flag Officer Submarines (FOSM) on 1 May 2026, succeeding Chetan C Chandegave in a key leadership transition for India’s submarine arm. An alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy, Rear Admiral Pote was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 1 January 1996.

An Anti-Submarine Warfare specialist, he brings extensive operational and staff experience to the role, strengthening the Navy’s underwater warfare capabilities. Before taking over as FOSM, Rear Admiral Pote served as India’s Defence Adviser to the United Kingdom at the High Commission of India, London. His diplomatic tenure added significant international and strategic exposure to his career profile. He has also held important command and staff appointments, reflecting a well-rounded leadership journey.

With his wide-ranging operational, strategic, and international experience, Rear Admiral Sameer Sanjay Pote’s appointment is expected to further enhance the readiness and capabilities of the Indian Navy’s submarine fleet.
