Indian Railways detailed a massive deployment of special trains to handle increasing passenger demand, as reviewed by Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during preparations for the summer travel season.
The Railways want to run 18,262 summer special train services on popular lines from April 15th to July 15th, 2026. Additional services are being advertised to improve connection and minimise congestion; 11,878 journeys have already been notified.
Improved passenger flow at key stations in cities like New Delhi, Mumbai (LTT, CSMT, Pune), Surat (including Udhna), Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru is the main goal of the effort. The authorities are making use of real-time monitoring, optimised scheduling, and better rake availability to guarantee efficient operations.
Interventions at the zonal level are also crucial. Udhna station is now more efficient because to real-time crowd control, better on-ground support, and simplified boarding procedures adopted by Western Railway. Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers kept the Udhna-Thave Tapti Ganga Express passengers safe and comfortable by enforcing strict boarding and sitting regulations.
As the summer travel season approaches, the Railways are making extra efforts to ensure that customers returning to their hometowns have a pleasant experience. The goal of the improved station layouts and integrated operations is to provide passengers with a journey that is secure, quick, and easy.
This massive rollout exemplifies how Indian Railways is always one step ahead of seasonal demand increases by being strategically planned and operationally efficient.
