Global Energy Giants Head to Goa for Mega India Energy Week 2026

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said Friday that India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, which will take place from January 27 to 30, 2026, at the ONGC Advanced Training Institute in Goa, will bring together international energy ministers, business executives, legislators, financial institutions, academic institutions, and technology providers at a pivotal point in the history of the global energy sector.

Speaking at the IEW 2026 Curtain Raiser Press Conference, the Minister characterised it as the year’s first significant international energy platform, with an emphasis on bolstering energy security, stimulating investments, and pushing workable decarbonisation paths.

Shri Puri emphasised India Energy Week’s explosive development since its start, pointing out that it has grown from roughly 30,000 delegates and 316 exhibitors in 2023 to 45,000 in 2024 and 68,000 in 2025. With approximately 75,000 delegates, 600 exhibitors (180 of whom will be from outside), 500+ foreign speakers, and 120+ conference sessions, IEW 2026 is anticipated to be the biggest edition to date, highlighting India’s growing prominence in the global energy conversation.

In addition to international organisations like the International Energy Forum, BIMSTEC, and the Eurasian Economic Union, the minister announced that 17 ministers and deputy ministers from nations like the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the Netherlands, Oman, Brunei, Myanmar, and Tanzania have confirmed their participation.

Eleven thematic zones, including digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI), hydrogen, renewable energy, petrochemicals, biofuels, LNG ecosystem, city gas distribution, Make in India, and net-zero solutions, will host the exhibition. New additions include a Nuclear Energy Zone and a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Zone.

Four ministerial sessions, forty-seven leadership and spotlight panel discussions, and five Energy Talks—one-on-one discussions with global energy professionals centred on technology, markets, and sustainability—will comprise the strategic conference programme, which will be organised around ten major themes.

A special Make in India and Indigenisation Pavilion, run by Engineers India Limited, would encourage cooperation with MSMEs, vendors, and start-ups, supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat goal, according to Shri Puri, who emphasised indigenisation. Eleven national pavilions will also be present during the event, including those from China, Russia, the US, Japan, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Norway, and Canada.

With a number of significant agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) being proposed, including partnerships with ONGC, BPCL, OIL, NRL, BPRL, Shell, Petrobras, TotalEnergies, and foreign partners, IEW 2026 is anticipated to produce tangible business results. A 200 KTPA Sustainable Aviation Fuel project in Paradip, Odisha, is one of them.

Several bilateral and multilateral energy talks with Arab nations, Japan, Iceland, the Netherlands, and the United States will be among the major side events, as will the 9th Prime Minister’s Roundtable, where the Hon. Prime Minister will engage with CEOs and business executives from across the world.

Through programmes like Avinya 2026—the Startup Challenge—Vasudha 3.0, and the Hackathon Challenge 2026, including IITs, the minister stated, innovation will be a key priority. There will also be a number of knowledge items released, such as the India Bioenergy Outlook 2030, a SAF microsite, and a white paper on biofuels financing.

India Energy Week 2026, according to Hardeep Puri, highlights the nation’s dedication to striking a balance between sustainability, economic growth, and energy security while establishing India as a respectable international energy hub and a key player in the energy revolution.
