Engineers India Limited has signed a contract worth more than US$450 million with the Dangote Group for a 700,000 BPD greenfield refinery and petrochemical project in Kenya.
Engineers India Limited (EIL) has secured an EIL contract worth more than US$450 million from the Dangote Group for a major refinery and petrochemical project in Kenya.
Under the contract, EIL will provide Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) consultancy services for the project.
The project will have a capacity of 700,000 barrels per day (BPD).
EIL Contract Covers 700,000 BPD Refinery
The key details of the project are:

The project is expected to increase fuel production capacity in East Africa. It is also expected to reduce dependence on fuel imports and support regional energy security.
The refinery will also supply petroleum products to international markets.
EIL Builds on Dangote Group Partnership
EIL has previously worked with the Dangote Group on the 650,000 BPD Integrated Refinery and Petrochemical Complex at the Lekki Free Zone in Nigeria.
The Lekki complex is currently the world’s largest single-train refinery.
EIL is also associated with the expansion of the complex to 1.4 million barrels per day.
The latest contract builds on EIL’s earlier engagement with the Dangote Group. The company will now support the group’s planned refinery and petrochemical expansion in East Africa.
EIL to Provide PMC and EPCM Consultancy
Under the contract, EIL will provide project management and engineering consultancy services for the Kenya project.
The engagement covers PMC and EPCM consultancy for the greenfield refinery and petrochemical plant.
EIL said the contract reflects the confidence placed in its capabilities to execute large and complex projects.
The company is a premier engineering consultancy organisation under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The Kenya project further expands EIL’s international presence in the refinery and petrochemical sector.
