RECPDCL, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has handed over Musalgaon Power Transmission Limited, the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for an intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra.
The SPV was handed over to Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited on September 9, 2026. The handover followed the completion of the bidding process for the transmission project.
RECPDCL Power Project Moves Towards Execution
Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited emerged as the successful bidder through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL.
The project will be developed under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model. RECPDCL served as the Bid Process Coordinator for the project.
RECPDCL General Manager (Engineering) Ratnesh Kumar formally handed over the SPV to Amit R. Naik, Chief Engineer (TBCB), Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited.
Senior officials from Maharashtra STU, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited and RECPDCL were also present during the handover.
Maharashtra Transmission Project Includes New Substation
The project involves setting up a 220/132/33 kV Air Insulated Substation (AIS) at Musalgaon.
It will also include a 220 kV double-circuit transmission line of around 111 km from Musalgaon to Babhaleshwar and Raymond.
Another 132 kV double-circuit transmission line of approximately 13 km will connect Musalgaon with Sinner.
Associated transmission works will also form part of the project. The infrastructure is expected to strengthen Maharashtra’s intra-state transmission network.
₹560 Crore RECPDCL Power Project to Be Completed in 12 Months
The RECPDCL Power Project has an estimated investment of ₹560 crore and is scheduled for implementation within 12 months.
The SPV handover marks an important step towards the execution of the transmission project. Once implemented, the project is expected to strengthen electricity transmission capacity and grid infrastructure in Maharashtra.
The use of the TBCB route is aimed at enabling competitive development of transmission infrastructure. It also supports efficient execution of critical power projects.
RECPDCL Power Project to Strengthen Maharashtra Grid Infrastructure
The Musalgaon project will add new substation and transmission capacity to Maharashtra’s intra-state power network.
The ₹560-crore investment will support the development of critical transmission infrastructure under the BOOT model. The project is expected to improve the state’s grid infrastructure and support the reliable movement of electricity across the network.
