The first direct Express train between Ramnagar and Dehradun, virtually kicked off on Saturday by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Passengers from all around Uttarakhand and adjoining Uttar Pradesh will enjoy the new service, which satisfies a long-standing public demand and greatly improves rail connectivity between the Kumaon and Garhwal regions.
Wednesdays and Fridays will be the operating days of the Ramnagar-Dehradun Express. After leaving Ramnagar at 5:50 am, Train No. 15310 will arrive at Dehradun at 12:40 pm, and Train No. 15309 will depart from Dehradun at 3:55 pm, arriving at Ramnagar at 11:30 pm. Offering comfortable AC, Sleeper, Chair Car, Second Sitting, and General coaches, the train will make stops at Kashipur, Roshanpur, Pipalsana, Moradabad, Najibabad, and Haridwar.
Commuters, students, farmers, and tourists from Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, Dehradun, Moradabad, and Bijnor will all reap the benefits of the new train. Additionally, it will facilitate easier access to sites like Jim Corbett National Park, Girija Devi Temple, Sitamadhi/Sitavani, and the Char Dham pilgrimage circuit, which includes Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
The development of Rishikesh Railway Station as a feeder station will boost rail capacity and relieve congestion at Haridwar, according to Ashwini Vaishnaw, who spoke at the event. In addition, he mentioned that eleven train stations in Uttarakhand are undergoing renovations to better serve passengers, with an emphasis on enhancing amenities for middle-class and low-income travellers while minimising congestion.
According to Pushkar Singh Dhami, chief minister of Uttarakhand, the train’s debut signifies yet another watershed moment in the growth of the state’s railway system. He emphasised how the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Line is moving along quickly and how it will play a pivotal role in the growth of the social, economic, religious, and tourist sectors. Uttarakhand has been allocated a record-breaking 4,769 crore rupees for railways, he added, and projects worth more than 40,000 crore rupees are already underway.
