Valedictory Function of Neyveli Book Fair 2025

THE RICH DIVERSITY OF LANGUAGES AND CULTURE IS THE ESSENCE OF BHARAT –GOVERNOR OF TELANGANA JISHNU DEV VARMA DURING THE VALEDICTORY FUNCTION OF THE NEYVELI BOOK FAIR 2025

New Delhi, July 14: The curtains came down on yet another edition of the Neyveli Book Fair at Neyveli, the Valedictory function which was held at the Lignite Hall, Book Fair grounds today on 13th July, 2025.

Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Telangana, was the Chief Guest of the Valedictory function. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLC India Limited (NLCIL), Functional Directors of NLCIL Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) & (P&P) Addl.Charge, Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Dr. Prasanna Kumar Acharya, Director (Finance) and Thiru Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, CVO, NLCIL graced the occasion.

The function was also attended by Senior officials of NLCIL, representatives of recognised Trade Unions Tho.Mu.Sa, Anna Tho.Mu.Sa, SC/ST Employees Welfare Federation, ST Employees Welfare Federation, OBC Association, Graduates Engineers’ Association, Engineers’ Association, Officers Association, Women in Public Sector (WIPS), Press and Media representatives, Teachers, Students and the general public.

Addressing the gathering, Jishnu Dev Varma appreciated NLCIL, a Public sector undertaking, for conducting a Book Fair. It was also good that NLCIL was taking efforts to bring school children from rural areas to the Book Fair through free transport. With rich diverse languages and culture, India was a treasure trove of literature, he stated.

One can hear the heartbeat of Bharat Mata in the diverse literature and arts of various states. Pointing out that conventional reading was facing challenges, he said that the printed word would always have a special place. Digital devices could not be the only source of information, he said stressing that books always had a special place in our hearts.

He praised Tamil Nadu’s rich culture and literature. Recalling the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat, he said that this would become a reality only through the spread of literature and culture. Ek Bharat means a united Bharat not a uniform Bharat, he said.

Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, in his address, hailed this day as a golden day in history of NLCIL and the Neyveli Book Fair due to the presence of Jishnu Dev Varma who was also a literateur besides a politician. Being an accomplished poet and having written many books, he was the apt person to be here.

He proudly stated that NLCILtook efforts to contact 653 schools in Cuddalore District and bring them to the Neyveli Book Fair through free transport. Stating that NLCIL, the oldest integrated energy company, was the first PSU to reach 1 GW renewable energy. The company had a plan to increase the renewable energy 8 times by 2030.

Though the Neyveli Book fair was the Book Fair with the second highest number of visitors in Tamil Nadu, as far as vibrancy was concerned, it was the best in the country. Our Prime Minister has set a target to make India a developed country by 2047 and for this, we needed educated youth which would be possible through such Book Fairs. He also applauded the organising committee of Neyveli Book Fair for all the efforts to make the Book Fair a success.

An e-Souvenir was released on the occasion. Earlier, Dr.Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) and (P&P) Addl. Charge welcomed the gathering while Shir DVSN Murthy, Executive Director & Secretary, Neyveli Book Fair 2025 proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Upholding a remarkable 23-year tradition, NLC India Limited, Neyveli, is once again hosting the Neyveli Book Fair in a grand fashion.This year marks the 24thedition of the Neyveli Book Fair, which is currently enriching lives from July 4thto July 14th, 2025, building on a legacy of 23 years.

Drawing more than 1.75 lakh visitors, including a substantial 75,000+ school and college students, this year’s Neyveli Book Fair was a resounding success. Its standout features encompassed upgraded facilities for all, lively on-the-spot competitions that captivated both students and the public, delightful amusements for children, and a series of brilliant cultural performances, all underscored by comprehensive safety arrangements.

Demonstrating its ongoing dedication, NLCIL once again underscored its commitment to enriching the minds of the student community from Neyveli and its surrounding areas through the successful organization of the Neyveli Book Fair 2025.
