On June 30, 2026, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli stepped down as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NLC India Limited (NLCIL), marking the end of his tenure in that position. With his departure, a period of revolutionary leadership that solidified the company’s position in India’s energy sector comes to a close.
Since taking office on January 12, 2023, Motupalli has guided NLC India strategically and with vision, achieving significant milestones in its thermal power generating, renewable energy, and mining operations. Throughout his three and a half years at the helm, the business became more efficient, completed projects more quickly, and strengthened its financial position.
We introduced new efforts in renewable energy, digital transformation, and sustainable development, and we expedited several long-pending projects under his direction. In line with India’s sustainable energy revolution, NLC India diversified into Green Hydrogen, Pumped Storage Projects, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and the vital minerals industry.
The significant increase in trust from key constituencies was a hallmark of his time in office. The market capitalisation of NLC India reached new heights, helped along by the growing backing for the company’s long-term growth plan from investors, banks, and business associates.
Project management, safety, environmental sustainability, employee welfare, community development, and mine production were also highly valued by Motupalli. Employee morale was lifted and NLC India was honoured with numerous national and international accolades thanks to his emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and a safety-first culture.
In his farewell remarks, Motupalli expressed his confidence that NLC India Limited’s committed employees and solid institutional base will propel the company to even greater heights of success in the years to come, all the while bolstering India’s energy independence and long-term prosperity.
